Noah Zakim is a partner of Zakim & Zakim, P.C. and has been of counsel to Kates Nussman Ellis Farhi & Earle since 2009. He is also of counsel to the firm of Schulman Blitz, LP where he maintains a New York City office. Mr. Zakim is admitted to practice law in the states of New Jersey, New York, as well as the US District Court for the State of New Jersey.
Mr. Zakim’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, real estate transactions, commercial transactions, landlord/tenant litigation, foreclosure litigation and commercial collections. He also regularly counsels clients in the purchase and sale of small businesses, business entity formation, and the drafting and negotiation of shareholder agreements, operating agreements and partnership agreements. His real estate practice includes representing purchasers and sellers of commercial real estate, all aspects of commercial leasing, land use, planning board and zoning applications, defending commercial property tax lien foreclosures, the defense and prosecution of commercial mortgage foreclosures, and residential mortgage foreclosure defense.
Mr. Zakim’s landlord/tenant practice includes representing residential and commercial landlords in summary dispossess proceedings, complex commercial tenancy litigation, residential evictions and commercial lease disputes. His practice also includes drafting wills, residential real estate transactions, and contested estate litigation.
Mr. Zakim regularly appears on behalf of clients in New Jersey Superior Court and New York Supreme Court.
Mr. Zakim attended college at the University of Colorado where he developed a passion for the environment. During summers Mr. Zakim worked for an environmental consulting firm in New Jersey assisting with site investigations, soil and groundwater remediation and testing and installation of groundwater monitor wells, and ultimately earned an Environmental Law Certification from Pace University School of Law which in addition to his field experience provides a strong foundation for counseling clients on all aspects of environmental due diligence and landowner liability.
A lifelong outdoorsman, when not in the office Mr. Zakim can usually be found hiking, mountain biking, surfing, and racing in triathlons. Mr. Zakim also sits on the Conservation Committee of the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference and volunteers his time and pro bono legal counsel assisting with the acquisition of land for conservation purposes, for which he received the Trail Conference’s 2018 Leo Rothschild Conservation Award.
Since 2011, Mr. Zakim has been a volunteer pro bono attorney with Northeast New Jersey Legal Services where he provides legal counsel to low income clients. Mr. Zakim was the recipient of the Northeast New Jersey Legal Services 2015 Empowerment Award, and in 2019 was awarded an Equal Justice Medal by Legal Services of New Jersey.
