Farhi’s Success Story
When she returned from disability leave, things were very different. Her supervisor was nasty and insulting and she was isolated from everyone else in the office. This happened every day and she finally broke down. Her psychiatrist recommended another leave of absence. But only days later, she was told by her boss that she had to come back in 2 weeks. “Yes or no!” the boss demanded. That was too soon and so she lost her job. We sued, claiming discrimination and retaliation. They settled soon after, with the client getting significant compensation.

My client owns a boutique jewelry store in New York City, featuring her own designs. She hired a marketing consultant to help grow her business on social media. Those services included photoshoots of jewelry pieces, bags and accessories. One day, the consultant suddenly quit and claimed copyright ownership of the photos of the merchandise. A “demand letter,” followed by some intense negotiations, produced an agreement. It confirmed the client’s ownership of the photos and banned the former consultant from displaying them in any way, from selling them, or from using them as part of his portfolio.

Her older married boss wanted a side chick. She said no. He left a trail of texts. She kept them. We sued him and the company. They settled.

It was their dream! A big beautiful house for a big beautiful family, on a quiet street with a big backyard. The contract was signed and the closing of title was just weeks away. Then a letter came – the deal was off! No explanation, no excuse. To make it worse, the seller disappeared and his lawyer said that he was fired. So we sued. We found the seller and in less than a month, the closing happened and the seller paid my legal fees and the clients’ expenses for the delay. Dreams do come true!

He never hit her – or threatened to. But after going off his meds and drinking, he would threaten to kill himself, terrifying their 4 year-old daughter. The last time, it started as usual, with yelling and cursing. She asked him to leave and it looked like he would. Then the little girl screamed “Daddy has a knife!” As he brandished it, he shouted “this is gonna be all your fault!” Soon after, the police arrived and took him to a nearby psychiatric ward. The restraints we got included him moving out of the house, giving her his mental health information to monitor his compliance and limiting his contact with the child to only 5 minutes a day on Face Time. Of course, he had to pay child support. A sad story but the best possible outcome for mother and daughter. The little girl is doing well in therapy.

A young musician proudly put 3 of his new songs on You Tube. He was shocked to find the videos on a business website, without his permission. I sent a strong “cease and desist” letter and they were soon taken down.
