New Covid Restrictions Alert

Announcing an Executive Order to protect the health and safety of New Jersey’s workers

The Executive Order establishes workplace health and safety standards that will cover all New Jersey-based workers in both the private and public sectors. At minimum these standards require that workers undergo a health screening before every shift, a requirement for all workers to maintain at least six feet of distance from one another to the maximum extent possible, mandatory breaks to allow workers to wash their hands, and mandatory face coverings (which employers must provide to workers at their expense). The NJ Department of Labor will establish an online complaint-intake form for workers in order to facilitate enforcement. The NJ Department of Labor will also develop worksite notices and materials and create a training program in unison with Rutgers University and members of the Protect NJ Workers Coalition to ensure workers are aware of their rights and employers are aware of their obligations. The DOL will be working hand in hand with the Department of Health to enforce compliance, assist workers in complying and create investigatory protocols. These measures begins Thursday, November 6th, at 6am
